Summer of 2023
Off-Season Hoops was proud and thrilled to once again partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence on this exciting initiative. This summer, we offered a four day academic and basketball clinic for over fifty girls from the Club. In the morning, the girls particpated in academic classes with topics on life lessons including Non Verbal Communication and Body Language, Social Media, Self Esteem, and real disussions about the upcoming school year. In the afternoon, there was a full agenda of basketball activities including skill development stations, games, and fun activities with prizes. The girls also had the opportunity to hear guest speakers talk about their careers and how they've overcome challenges to be successful. This year's speakers included Dr. Mallika Marshall (Channel 4 News), Amaka Ubaka (Channel 7 News Anchor), Priscilla Casper (Channel 10 Anchor), Carrie Moore (Harvard University Women's Head Coach) and her staff, Kristen McDonnell (Norwood High School Girl's Coach), Elemy Colome (Former Dominican Replublic National Team Player and B&G Club Alum), and two Special Agents from the FBI.
